Dishant Parikh’s picks for PD — t20 week 2

Team 1

Team 2

Dulles: Dulles is playing excellent cricket and is continuing their T20 form from last year. On the other hand, Kensington could not defend 147 on the newly laid Fairfax pitch last weekend. While this is a matchup between the equally matched batting line up of Kensington and bowling line up of Dulles, the weaker Kensington bowling will hamper their chances of scoring win on this bowling wicket.

Tigers: Both teams registered a win in their opening game last weekend. Tigers has a solid batting line up with the new additions and their bowling will be bolstered by the anticipated return of their former captain Imran. Even in Imran’s absence, Tigers bowled extremely well and registered a 53 run win last weekend and are firing in all departments. UMBC managed to defend a low total on Hyattsville but will need to bat better. The only game played at Woodmore last weekend was between the former PD teams Baltimore and ICC. Both teams scored over 150 runs and the game went to the last over. I expect this to be the game of the weekend. It will be a high scoring game but I expect Tigers to just about get over the line

Zolon: Zolon has had a dream start to their PD run, winning 2 in 2. Cosmos fought hard and scored a win against Nitro but fell short against Tigers last weekend. Pradeep, one of the key contributors in the Cosmos side was retired hurt against Tigers. If he doesn’t take the field, it would be a big loss for Cosmos. Ashwin, former Zolon player, will have lots of insights to share with the Cosmos captain but I feel Zolon will take this battle fairly convincingly.

Titans: Nitro lost the game to Cosmos from a winning position while Titans registered two wins last weekend including a win against Tigers in the night tournament. Titans with their solid all round performance will take this battle.

Vikings: Both the teams struggled with their batting last weekend. Vikings were further dented by the transferring of Zaheer Abbasi to Titans. Virginia on the other hand seems to be slowly warming up for the 40 over tournament. They conceded over 150 against Dulles and fell short chasing it. While both teams are wounded, I feel the 2013 PD Captain of the Year will put out a few magic tricks to get his team back on track.

Kensington: Kensington batted well to score 147 against Zolon last weekend while AFCA fell short while chasing 104 at Hyattsville. I feel that Kensington’s batting will overcome the shortcomings in their bowling in this encounter and trump AFCA to win this one.

Tigers: Another game to look out for this weekend. Beating Boyds on their home field is no easy task and if there is one team that can give them a hard time, I would put my money on Tigers. With Charan joining the team and firing, Tigers will be able to beat Boyds in this encounter.
